Instagram Live: Breaking Barriers, Building Futures

The world has agreed that by 2030, all forms of poverty shall have been eradicated and hunger shall have ended, and food security be a reality. To achieve this, around 712 million people living in extreme poverty and the 828 million people who go hungry every year must be given pathways to a better future. Organisations like The Hunger Project argue that a holistic approach is key to meeting these challenges. This means not only addressing immediate needs, but also overcoming structural barriers by promoting gender equality, local ownership of development, and meaningful inclusion of youth.

But how does this work in practice? In this Instagram Live, Teshome Shibru, Ethiopia’s country manager of The Hunger Project, will discuss the importance of tackling barriers with community-led responses. He will sit down with, Joel Wernersson from the International Centre for Local Democracy to discuss their work in a nation with one of the world’s youngest populations, Ethiopia.

What are the strategies for meaningful youth participation? How can female leadership mobilize communities?  Where can digitalisation play a role? Join us on @fuf.se as Teshome and Joel hope to answer these questions on the Instagram Live session, ”Breaking barriers, building futures”, September 20th, 11:00-11:30.

The interview will also be available to view afterwards on FUF’s Youtube channel fufplay.
