The technological development around artificial intelligence, AI, is moving forward at a furious pace – something that debaters regard as both positive and negative for global development. The climate issue and whether Sweden can achieve the climate goals have also been discussed during the past week.

Climate organizations critical of trade agreements between the EU and Mercosur

The EU is in the final phase of a free trade agreement between the EU and Mercosur- the countries of South America, after almost 23 years of negotiations. The agreement means reduced tariffs on trade between the countries, but several environmental and human rights organizations have criticized the agreement and believe that it could lead to increased devastation of the Amazon.

During the last week, many debate and editorial writers focused on women's rights in conjunction with International Women's Day on March 8. Several debaters discussed digitization and gender equality as it was the main issue discussed at the meeting of the UN Commission on Women (CSW) in New York on 10 March.
