The roads to development jobs

How do you get a job where you can make a difference? What are the ways to reach development jobs? In a conversation with Malin Ericsson from Sida and Malaika Mikaelsson from ICLD, we will discuss, give tips and inspiration for a future job, perhaps in human rights, climate issues or peacekeeping - the list can be made long on various issues you can work with in global sustainable development !

With us we have Malin Ericsson who has worked at Sida for almost twenty years as an administrator and subject representative in democracy and human rights. Malin's thematic experience is broad and ranges from initiatives such as election and legal sector support to media and civil society programs. She has work and field experience from Africa and Southeast Asia, in Africa mainly of conflict and post-conflict countries. Since 2014, she has worked at Sida's Africa department as an advisor, focusing on supporting strategy implementation in the countries where Swedish development cooperation exists. Malin has a bachelor's degree in cultural anthropology and a master's degree in human rights.

Oh Malaika Mikaelsson who has extensive research, capacity building and communication experience of international programs. Malaika is originally from Guyana and is well versed in qualitative and stakeholder-focused research, strategic analysis and planning. She has extensive work and field experience from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Europe. After a master's degree in international relations from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, she worked at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies at the University of London, where she focused on local democracy in the British Commonwealth. Today, she works at ICLD as a research coordinator, where her work focuses on ensuring that program and research results benefit a broad cross-section of stakeholders and partners in Sweden, Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia.

The call is moderated by Tove Melin from FUF - The Association for Development Issues, if has long experience of coordination and recruitment of young people, including to FUF's Internship program, exchange programs within the university and to international volunteer programs.
