This year, a legal process has created discussions about whether or not the death penalty should be used in Taiwan. In September, the Constitutional Court's verdict finally came. The death penalty is maintained, but its exercise is limited. The reactions were not long in coming.

After US state visit to Taiwan in August, tensions between Taiwan, China and the United States have increased sharply. Many experts fear a Chinese invasion of Taiwan. The subject has recently been mentioned frequently in the media, but the conflict can be difficult to understand. Regional revitalization is a concept originated from Japan in 2012. Since Taiwan is facing similar problems as Japan, the Taiwanese government also decides to adopt this concept to attract people to move to rural areas. Instead of focusing on redevelopment, revitalization comes to play an important role.
