Seminar: Women in Peace & Conflict

Information in English below.

Women and girls are affected by the horrors of war in other and often worse ways than men. They are at greater risk of harassment and violence in refugee camps. Sexual violence increases and when the war is over, violence against women lingers.

What is the situation for girls and women in war-torn countries? How is the narrative of women in war and conflict affected by our notions of gender? What causes violence in refugee camps and how can violence be reduced? And how can more women be included in peace processes?

Women to women and the Association for Development Issues (FUF) local group Stockholm Södra invites to a seminar on May 10 where we with the help of Annick Wibben, Professor at the Swedish National Defense College's Department of Security, Strategy and Leadership, Felicia Sörensdotter, Coordinator for Women, Peace and Security at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Ann-Charlotte Lydman, a military officer in the Armed Forces, delves into these issues in a conversation about women, war and conflict.

How are girls and women treated in war-torn countries? How do our gender notions influence the narrative of women in war and conflict? What causes conflict in refugee camps, and how can it be reduced? And how can more women be included in peacekeeping efforts?
