Panel discussion: Sustainable agriculture in the world

Information in English below.

The agricultural sector is today the second largest source of emissions on our planet. In order for us to be able to reduce emissions and be able to provide food for future generations, agriculture must undergo a transition and become more sustainable, but what should the transition look like?

FUF Lund, in collaboration with Medborgarskolan and Central Asia groups, invites you to a panel discussion and question and answer session about sustainable agriculture from three geographical perspectives; Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh and Sweden. The panelists have different backgrounds but the same goal – a sustainable and regenerative agriculture.

From Kyrgyzstan comes Nurayim Syrgak kyzy who is an environmental activist and specializes in the conservation of biodiversity, permaculture and ecotourism. The perspective from Bangladesh comes from Alexandra Klang, Program Officer for Swallows India Bangladesh, which works to support local and sustainable agriculture in Bangladesh. Cecilia Ward is a farmer and will talk about alternative food systems for a sustainable future and what it is like to work with sustainable agriculture in Scania.

The conversation will be about different dimensions of sustainable agriculture and answer questions about what permaculture really means, what challenges there are to change agriculture and how much of a difference it really makes to take consumer responsibility to buy organic cucumbers.

The conversation will be held in English, will end with a question and answer session and we will of course offer coffee. Welcome!
