The votes have been counted and the new EU parliamentarians are in place. The process of appointing a new commission is in full swing and Ursula von der Leyen has received continued confidence as commission president. The challenges that before the election were described by many as crucial for peace and security, both in Europe and globally, remain. The EU stands now faces several important decisions that will shape its future – both in the security and climate areas, but also in terms of its relations with the outside world.
What happens now? What do the election results and the composition of the new commission mean for the EU's work with peace and security, not least in relation to Ukraine/Russia and Israel/Gaza? How will the EU tackle the climate challenges in the coming mandate period? When can Ukraine become a member of the EU?
FUF and the Swedish European Movement invite you to the lunch seminar New Europe – choosing a path for the future on 19 Sep at 12:00 – 13:30 at FUF's office. Together with a knowledgeable panel, we analyze the election results. The seminar will also be interpreted by Saba Tadele in the form of a work of art. Of course, the audience will have the chance to ask questions, and lunch is offered to all members of the respective association (become a member of Fuf and The Swedish European Movement)!
