Must the Amazon burn?

(In English below)

Conversation and mingling - food sovereignty and sustainable food production.

During an hour-long seminar, we will talk about why the Amazon is on fire and how it is connected with the expansion of the industrial agricultural model. Our guests have an alternative model that puts ecological and social sustainability in focus.

In connection with International Food Sovereignty Day, the network welcomes The power over the food together with FUF for conversations and mingling with guests from MST and CETAP in Brazil.

Francisco "Toninho" Antonio Pereira from the Movement for the Landless, Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST) comes from the state of Ceará in northeastern Brazil and has been active in MST for 22 years. Today he has a leading position in the movement and works with the political organization of the settlements.

Alvir Longhi is a family farmer and has been working as an advisor in the agricultural organization CETAP since 2000. Alvir's work focuses on promoting the development of social processes that contribute to a fairer food production system and commercialization.

The network The power over the food consists of the Africa groups, FIAN Sweden, the Earth of the Future, Friends of the Earth, the Latin American groups, the Swedish Smallholders' Association and the Swallows India Bangladesh.
