Lethal autonomous weapons, also known as killer robots, are weapon systems that operate completely without human control. The development of killer robots is being discussed within the UN and Secretary-General António Guterres has called for a ban. Still This type of weapon is not used in war but several countries are investing in developing artificial intelligence (AI) for military purposes. The development of killer robots leads to several ethical, legal as well as security-related issues.

Because what happens when life and death decisions are left to machines programmed to kill? How is the use of killer robots regulated? Can the use of killer robots ever be justified or should they be banned?

With these questions as a starting point, FUF invites you to a lecture with Deborah Solomon in The Swedish Peace and Arbitration Association. After the lecture, we open up for discussion and questions.
