Lecture: Climate Change in Latin America and the Caribbean

Climate change is today one of the biggest threats to global development. All the regions and populations of the world are affected. How are the regions of Latin America and the Caribbean specifically affected? What can adaptation to climate change look like and how can the negative consequences be counteracted?

In a digital lecture with FUF Uppsala, Tania Guillén Bolaños talks about how climate change affects Latin America and the Caribbean and what policies and actions are required to adapt to and counteract climate change.

Tania Guillén Bolaños is a researcher in the evaluation of adaptation at the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS). Among other things, she has participated as a researcher and author in the preparation of the special report on "Global warming 1,5 degrees" from the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). She holds a Bachelor of Environmental Quality Engineering from the University of Central America (UCA, Nicaragua) and a Master's degree in Natural Resource Management and Technology from the Cologne University of Applied Sciences (TH-Cologne, Germany).

Planned layout is about an hour of lecture followed by 15 minutes for questions. The event will be held in English and at Zoom. To take part in the lecture, you need to register via this link.

Tania Guillén Bolaños is a Ph.D. researcher on evaluation of adaptation at the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS). She has participated in the preparation of the special report on "Global Warming of 1.5ºC" by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as chapter scientist, contributing author, and drafting author of the Summary for Policy Makers (SPM). She holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Quality Engineering from the Universidad Centroamericana (UCA, Nicaragua) and a master's degree in natural resource management and technology from the Cologne University of Applied Sciences (TH-Köln, Germany)

The lecture will last about an hour followed by 15 minutes for questions. The event will be held in English and on Zoom.
