FUF suddenly finds itself in a critical situation. The day before Christmas Eve, the government presented its regulation letter to Sida. It shows that in practice all information and communication activities within aid are being discontinued, and support for capacity development and Agenda 2030 is being reduced. It is mainly from these items that FUF's funding in recent years has come.
In recent days, we have received information from our financiers about how this concretely affects FUF's operations, and we can state that - within the space of a few days - we are going from our strongest financial situation ever to, at the time of writing, standing on the verge of non-existent funding for 2023. Spring seminar activities, The development magazine (formerly Biståndsdebatten.se) and the business in which we annually engage and train hundreds non-profit active members, not least young adults, are suddenly completely unfunded. Ours Internship program, which for many means a first step into the development industry, has funding for the spring term – funding that is then cut off. We are still waiting for information about how the latest and attention-grabbing addition to FUF's business tree - Global Peace Hub - possibly will be affected by new aid priorities and the regulatory letter to Folke Bernadotteakademin.
However, we are not the ones to give up, but will fight to the end for our organization to survive by trying to find alternative funding both for existing operations and new projects. FUF is too good for anything else! Here you, your workplace, your friends and your network have an important role to play. Everyone who can in any way contribute to FUF's survival and to our work to increase knowledge, debate and commitment to a fair and sustainable world is needed now more than ever.
