In an era of increasing polarization, the ability to engage in genuine dialogue is more important than ever. This session offers a unique opportunity to develop skills that will be invaluable as you move into the workforce—whether it's leadership, teamwork, conflict management, or business development.
Dialogue is not the same as conversation or debate. Instead of defending opinions or trying to “win” an argument, dialogue is about thinking together. It is based on equality, inclusion and a non-judgmental approach, where participants listen deeply, explore different perspectives and learn from each other’s experiences. It is a powerful way to create understanding, strengthen groups and open up new ways of looking at the world.
During this interactive session, you can expect to:
- Practice dialogue in a structured and safe environment
- Explore central concepts and principles within dialogic communication
- Learn to listen more deeply and meet different perspectives
- Reflect on how dialogue can be used in your future professional role
The session is led by Joel Ahlberg, expert in peace and security, and Klara Williander, expert in environment and climate, both from Sida's Africa department. They have many years of experience working with dialogue and practical conflict management. Joel is also the author of the upcoming book Dialogue and participation, which will be published this spring.
Please note that this is a hands-on training that requires physical presence. No preparation is required.
This is a limited opportunity, and we hope you take the chance to develop a skill that will benefit you throughout your career.
