Global Democratic Backslide: How to reverse the trend

Register here »

You probably already know that an autocratic wave is sweeping around the globe. For the 17th consecutive year of global decline, democracy is at its lowest point since 1986. What can we do about this? By acknowledging the need for long-term peace, security, and human rights for everyone, a (fourth) new democratic wave must be fostered. Nonviolent civil resistance movements will play a key role in this new wave, and how they foster a vibrant civil society and equal participation. Therefore, how can democratic countries more effectively support them? And what role could youth play in this development?

Join us on the 4th of October, 17:00 (GMT+2), at FUF's HQ, or online, to further explore this topic. Together with Hardy Merriman, the president of the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict, and distinguished young peacebuilders from FUF's Global Peace Hub program, we will hold an insightful seminar on youth and democracy.

FUF will provide snacks and coffee. Access to the on-site seminar requires walking downstairs (no elevator access).
