Dear members,
The spring semester is coming to an end, parts of the FUF office are already on leave, and others will be leaving soon. In connection with our closing the office for the summer and wishing you all a wonderful break, we would like to take this opportunity to recommend some fresh June reading at The development magazine! Spend lazy days in the hammock reading reports from Almedalen Week, several different guest columns and analyses, as well as the semester's last reports, interviews and articles from the non-profit editorial team.
We would also like to remind you that the last day for workplaces that want to accept an intern through FUF in spring 2026to send your ad to us is 27 August. Then the application opens for those interested in do internship during the spring semester 29 augustiPlease feel free to recommend both workplaces that you think should be included, and students and others who you think should apply for these excellent opportunities!
September 1 is another date to remember – that is when the nomination for this year's FUF awardWho do you think deserves to be recognized for their work for a just and sustainable world? Read more and send us your nomination at the link.
You who are interested in get involved in FUF during the fall is warmly welcome to us on Sept 4. We will then tell you more about the opportunities to get involved in the editorial team, the book club or one of the board's working groups, and shortly afterwards the work for the fall semester will begin. Read more and register at the link!
And last, but not least: As most of you who have been members for a while know, FUF has been hit hard by the government's restructuring of aid. All of the aid strategies and budget items that previously financed the majority of FUF's activities, including through project and program grants from, for example, Sida, FBA and ForumCiv, have been terminated or severely cut. This has had the consequence that FUF now has zero kronor in grants for its activities (compared to two years ago when more than 90% of our then much larger operations were financed through such grants).
Currently, we conduct our business through passionate commitment, rock-solid work, and an often almost improbable ability to work magic with our knees. But that's not enough. Every day we nibble away at our own (finite) capital that we have managed to build up over the years. We are also dependent on commissioned work – whose surplus goes to finance the work with the Development Magazine, the seminars and the activities for non-profit active members, including all the young adults that we train and engage. These activities are also completely dependent on private individuals supports usthrough donations and membership fees. Last winter we also launched an opportunity to become monthly donor – where you can choose to donate as little as 49 kronor/month. You then contribute to our ability to organize, publish and educate – with the aim of increasing knowledge, debate and commitment to the world's most important issues. We see that what we do has major positive effects, and in the times we live in, it is perhaps more important than ever that organizations like FUF can conduct this type of activity.
Do you see the value in what FUF does? Do you want us to be able to continue working for a just and sustainable world? Then we need your support.
Thank you and hope for a nice summer!
