The silent refugee crisis in Burma

It has been six months since Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy took power in Burma or Myanmar as the country's official name is. Since Burma has been ruled by the military junta for decades, expectations of the new democratically elected government have been high. And despite the fact that many democratic reforms have been implemented, the UN recently criticized the government in Burma for systematic discrimination against minority groups in the country, and above all by the Muslim minority group Rohingya. Johanna Kvist, information manager at the Burma Committee, and Abul Kalam, chairman of the Swedish Rohingya Associaton, talk about the situation for Rohingya in today's Burma.

Agenda 2030 - including persons with disabilities

The Millennium Development Goals failed to include people with norm-breaking functional variations, leaving one of the poorest and most vulnerable groups off the global development agenda. The new development agenda, Agenda 2030, talks about the importance of "leave no one behind" - but will it become a reality, or are they just empty words?
