We live and work in turbulent times, which has also affected FUF. It has now been just over three years since the sudden dismantling of the grants that previously financed our activities began. FUF was then placed in a critical financial situation – something that we have updated our members about on an ongoing basis, including in these member letters:

Thanks to generous donations from members, a slowly increasing membership, reinvestment of the equity that we were wise enough to build up during the years when grants were available, and a determined effort to change the organization's financing model, we have so far managed to continue our operations - despite the fact that we currently have no project or program grants. The fact that FUF has been able to continue under these conditions is an achievement in itself.
At the same time, our resources are not unlimited. As can be seen from the budget proposal for 2026, we have effectively set a six-month budget for the operation in its current scope. If we do not manage to strengthen funding soon, we will face further cuts and reorganizations. Our goal is to protect as much as possible what is at the core of our mission: that more people in Sweden want and can act for a fair and sustainable global development.
We are convinced that FUF's mission is more important than ever. When global perspectives are being pushed aside, trust in knowledge is weakening and faith in the future is failing, independent actors are needed who can both explain the world and create space for engagement. FUF combines expertise, public education and meetings between people from civil society, academia, politics and business of different ages. By offering contexts where complex global issues can be discussed, we give people the tools to understand, take a position and act. With your support, we can continue to safeguard the global perspective and contribute to Sweden remaining an active and responsible actor in the world.
